This is What's Up....

Hey Hey Hey! I'm alive! I felt so distant not writing for almost all of last week. It's been so busy lately. I've been working on putting together my professional portfolio since I haven't updated that since I was in college. Crazy how time flies and I want to keep on it! I feel like I have so many ideas and thoughts for posts and I just don't have enough time to get them all out there! But, I'm hoping to get two others I'm really excited about up this week. Pinky promise! Before then, I just wanted to say 'Hi' and let you know what in the world I've been up to!
For the past month I've been trying to catch up with Breaking Bad. I swear it was torture trying to avoid spoilers EVERYWHERE I went. It was such an epic show, the whole world was watching. I finally finished up the series last weekend and it was so bittersweet. It was such perfection. I will miss Jesse Pinkman so much! He was definitely my favorite.
I've also been slowly collecting some goodies. I bought myself a mini instax camera. Basically like a poloroid camera made by FujiFilm. I'm obsessed and can't wait to start taking pictures with it. The images are the size of credit cards. So cool! AND!!! I also had a friend personally cart a tube of Hydraluron from the UK. Yay! I thought I'd never be able to get my hands on it and try it.
And last Sunday I made a trip out to the theater to see Gravity. I thought it was great. Very quietly suspenseful and I really enjoyed George Clooney's character. I've heard mixed reviews, but I really liked it. I could feel myself gripping the seat!

Oh, also, a little random side note... after months of practice, I've significantly improved my whistling skills which essentially means I can make wind sounds. Yes!

So, that's what's up with me. What's up with you?
Talk soon. Kisses, J

Catching Up

Hi there. It's just me today. I thought I'd take a minute to just have a little chat. Last week was quite hectic. With schools getting back in session, traffic has been crazy so getting to work has been quite the adventure which honestly wore me out in every possible way! I have a long commute and traffic added on top of that means I'm spending about two and a half hours one way. It's crazy, I know. Luckily, it's was a lovely 3-day holiday weekend if you live in America. Yay! So, I had some time to recuperate and get my head back on straight (literally). Which also meant I have had the chance to get some posts fleshed out for this coming week. Last week was a bit sparse, I'll admit. And even though I've only been blogging for a few months, I actually really missed it. I'm really enjoying blogging. It's exciting to have an idea, draw it up or photograph it, write about it and share it somewhere.

Speaking of Photography, anyone who knows me knows that I'm much better at designing, directing or just drawing/illustrating than I am holding a camera. I can literally make someone cry about how they look from a terrible picture I've taken. Know someone whose head is too big (figuratively speaking, of course)? Just find me to take a picture of them. No joke. So, I have been trying to learn how to position and angle myself to get good compositions. And also have been learning more about all the manual settings that every photographer should know like any driver knows where the gas and break are in a car. From aperture to shutter speed and ISO. Oy! It's so much to think about. It's a bit overwhelming, but I've been challenging myself to take my camera out with me more and just have some fun with it. Change up the settings and see what happens. Do it again and see what happens. And then again and again. It's the only way I'll ever learn, so I'm trying to get with it! As you can see, that's me in the image above with my trusty camera. If camera's had feelings, I swear mine would be thinking "really?!... her?..." haha. It's OK. Soon, it will be proud. Fingers crossed.

Hey, it's me. Jesenia!

Hi there. I'm Jesenia.

OK, I got the hardest part out of the way. Now that we know each other, we can be best friends and talk about all things beauty 24/7. Too fast? OK, we'll take it slower. Let me tell you a little more about myself. I'm in my mid 20's and ever since I was a tiny lady, I've loved coloring, creating and all things artistic. I have always loved painting and drawing, making things beautiful, etc. So, naturally as I grew up, my love of crayons and finger paints turned into a full on love affair with cosmetics. It's like grown up girly version of colored pencils, markers and paints. I quickly began collecting. It was like an addiction. Oooo... I don't have that color. I was the crazy girl who had three purple eyeshadows and insisted I needed another. My mom would say "don't you already have that color?" to which my response would be "No. I have a warmer toned purple at home with no shimmer. This one is cooler and has flecks of blue glitter". Soon I had a case full of makeup! Although I really didn't start wearing makeup until college. I loved it. Trying out new colors and playing around with everything. As years have passed, I've since graduated from college and am working in a field that I love. But makeup has also stayed a constant love of mine, I love to read blogs, books and watch videos to learn techniques and of course to learn about new products. Although this isn't my profession, I often find myself talking and answering questions about makeup so I thought maybe it was time to start writing down all of those things. I want this to be a place where I can spend time talking about something that I enjoy and start a creative space for myself online. I love my day job, It's a creative environment and I couldn't be more grateful to be doing it for a living, but this can be a space just for me and if I can help one or two people along the way, cool. As I said, I'm not a professional makeup artist, but I will share with you what I've learned and things I like. You know, from my 20 plus years experience of being a girl :)
